Teddy Coat is the embodiment of the idea that just because its cute doesn’t mean its impractical and that a proper tailored garment is truly timeless.
For my first project of second year in my BA at Nothbrook College we studied tailoring. In this project we were asked to make a coat that wouldn’t just be some university project but something we’d genuinely wear day to day once finished. With this in mind I made a perfect Decora inspired coat to match my maximalist style, that I could not only style with one of my looks but as an outfit on its own! Taking ideas from Decora’s childlike look the coat was made to look like a giant teddy bear! The coat itself was also tailored to my exact measurements so it would fit perfectly and it is lined with teddy bear fabric that I designed and printed myself. This means it can also be worn reversible, extending its styling potential!
With the coat itself I also have the sketch book I used to document my whole process from idea to a physical piece, through this you’ll be able to truly see the love put into this coat.
Jewellery has always been my passion and Poison Peppermint was set up so I can share that passion with others. I set up my Depop account Poison Peppermint in 2020 during lockdown and since then I have really perfected my craft in making cute colourful jewellery and accessories inspired by different Harajuku fashion styles.
Here you can see some of my pieces on sale and some pieces that haven’t been released including a bag that would be my first Poison Peppermint piece that is not a piece of jewellery or an accessory. I hope you love them as much as I loved making them.
